2064: Read Only Memories

2064: Read Only Memories is a story-driven, point-and-click adventure game set in a future with advanced AI.

TL;DR at bottom

Gameplay:

2064: Read Only Memories utilizes a common, simple game genre: the point-and-click adventure game. While some may tire of these after time, they are very enjoyable for me as well as many other people. In this game, you have the option to interact with objects in the environment on screen, with usually four different options of interaction for each object. You can also use any items that you pick up during gameplay to interact in different ways. Your character will make comments on anything you “look” at, keeping you on your toes, immersing you in the world, and giving you a little laugh here and there.

The basic premise of the story is that an extremely advanced artificial intelligence sought out you, a down-in-the-dumps journalist, for help to find its creator. He was kidnapped by someone, and you and the robot assemble together to create a ragtag search team to find him. This is an interesting concept, and the robot, named Turing, provides many funny comments and interesting dialogue that will get you invested in the story. Additionally, Turing is fully voice acted, which is very well done!

The game is simple at its core, but it is a fun experience that will keep you engaged very well.

Graphics:

The graphics in 2064: Read Only Memories are phenomenal. It utilizes highly detailed pixel art styled graphics. Each environment is very nice to look at, and has their own unique looks. The character animations for Turing are also well done, and add important characteristics to the building of his personality throughout the game. I absolutely fell in love with the art in this game from the opening sequence for the main menu, which was fantastically done. Overall, the graphics are wonderful and only add to a greater experience.

9/10

Music/Audio:

One of the biggest things that stood out to me in this game was the voice acting. I was not expecting it, and certainly not expecting it to be so well done! The voice actor for Turing did well to capture the personality of the character, and helps to immerse the player into the world even more. The soundtrack for the game is also a work of art, and captures the feel of the game and the retro vibe that it is attempting to portray. The music is fun and well designed, fitting with each scene perfectly.

8/10

Conclusion:

2064: Read Only Memories is yet another great point-and-click adventure game with its own unique experience. The game and story is immersive and enjoyable, and the high-quality soundtrack and voice acting keep the game exciting and fun. The graphics are fantastically designed and detailed, and are awesome to look at and explore during each new scene. I definitely recommend playing this game, it is very well made.
